Snow white tents were pitched up in Manhattan’s Bryant Park to mark the beginning of the much anticipated New York Fashion Week. During fashion week fashion enthusiasts such as Vogue Editor Anna Wintour and her trusty companion Andre Leon Talley got a first look at designs from the fashions finest such as Zac Posen, Marc Jacobs, Carolina Herrera and Ralph Lauren. The designers offered collections of vast diversity from gorgeous floor length gowns and classic black dresses from Oscar de la Renta to short feminine dresses and cute youthful blazers at the ever popular Proenza Schouler. The week ended with a bang with Marc Jacobs’s show which started two hours late but the shows still resumed but this time England’s finest reigned supreme at London Fashion Week. Despite being known as the lesser watched fashion week out of the four that make up the spring/summer 08 London Fashion Week has certainly set its mark. First came Gareth Pugh, who sent down models dressed in head to toe black Swarovski outfits, followed by Matthew Williamson’s show which started with an impromptu performance by Prince who was seated in the front row. But of course the spring/summer shows are far from over everyone is anticipating for the best shows from Prada, Balenciaga, Chanel, Lanvin, Lacroix, Dior, Gucci, Fendi, Givenchy, Nina Ricci, Chloe and so many more from Milan and Paris Fashion Week. The highlights of the spring/summer 08 shows will definitely be Valentino’s final farewell from the catwalks of Paris, Oliver Theyskens’ (the designer who dressed Reese Witherspoon in the canary yellow dress for the Golden Globes and the floor length purple gown for the Oscars) first spring/summer fashion show with the legendary house of Nina Ricci, and the first Milan Fashion Week without the legendary Gianfranco Ferre who died of a brain hemorrhage in June. Summer/Spring 08 is sure to be a fashion season that will be unforgettable as we bid farewell to the legend of Valentino who is sure to treat us to a show stopping collection.

I don't quite understand how/why Gisele is the highest paid model. These days she just seems rather Vicoria Secrets-ish and tacky.

I am always a little confused about this, when other big models like Sasha P just seem so much more interesting..
